Part 2. Tips to Fix Sound Doesn’t Work on iPhone Video
There is an infinite number of reasons why you might be experiencing issues hearing your iPhone, whether it’s related to ringtones, videos, and music, or it sounds wrapped. We’ll try to cover a few main reasons why this happens, and then we’ll give you some great tips on how to troubleshoot sound on iPhone video.
Some of the reasons you might be experiencing sound issues regarding videos are:
Tip 1. Check Out Silent Mode Button
A very common mistake that we usually do in hurry is we don’t check our mobile phones properly and get frustrated assuming that the sound feature is not working anymore. At very first, you should check your mobile sound settings. It can be in silent mode. The audio or volume level might just be too low that’s why you are having trouble hearing your iPhone sound while playing videos. As mentioned above, the reason why there is no sound on your iPhone while playing videos is due to a bug. You can access the volume settings through the Control Center or by navigating to your iPhone settings and sounds menu. Follow the simple instructions to check the settings.
- Navigate to your ringer button. This is usually placed on the left side of your phone, just above the volume buttons.
- If you see an orange line, that means that your phone is silent. This is mainly the reason why your iPhone was not making a sound.
- Toggle on your ringer button. Once you’ve changed the volume mode, a notification will appear at the top of your screen.
And while we are on this, better check if your ringer volume level is set on maximum. For your information, you can adjust this individually. So, even if you increase the volume, your ringer will be left unnoticed. To customize your volume, go to your phone “Settings” and press the “Sounds & Haptics” button. From here, drag the slider all the way to the right pane.
Tip 2. Hard Reset iPhone
You can also force restart or hard reset your iPhone so that you can be able to listen to the background sound of videos. Because if you are unable to turn it off normally, you may need to do a hard reset. The great thing is that it does not wipe any data from your phone, it just forces the iPhone device to restart. This process takes a couple of seconds to complete and a minute or less for the latest models like iPhone X to reboot so you can start using it again.
For its latest models, Apple has changed how you perform hard reset your iPhone X from older iPhones, so you need to use a new combination to perform a hard reset. But don’t worry, I am also mentioning how it will work for older versions.
To force restart on an iPhone 6s or earlier, firmly hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until iPhone turns off and turns back on again. For iPhone 7, grasp the sleep/wake button and the volume down button at the same time since the home button is no longer needed.
Tip 3. Plug & Unplug Headphones
It might be possible that the plugged your headphones in a wrong way or they are not properly inserted. The first thing you should try if your iPhone thinks headphones are plugged in is extremely simple: plug, then unplugs a pair of headphones. It’s possible the headphone jack on your iPhone didn’t acknowledge when you last unplugged your headphones and still thinks they’re connected. Plugging headphones in, then unplugging them could solve the problem.
If it does, and if this situation doesn’t happen with any regularity, chalk it up as a weird one-off and not something to worry about.
Tip 4. Turn off Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb is a great feature of iPhone that, when turned on, mutes notifications and alerts for all incoming calls, messages, and applications. It’s very simple to toggle on and off, providing for some digital peace and confidential with a quick switch. When Do Not Disturb is turned on, you will see a little moon sign on the top-right pane on your iPhone, and you will be unable to hear any sound on your iPhone. So, you need to ensure that it’s turned off.
Tip 5. Turn off Bluetooth
You might be thinking: I have tried the above fixes and still no result, how genuine or accurate are these fixes?
This article contains highly reputable and creditable fixes to the “Sound Won’t Work on iPhone problem” faced by many.
Checking for and turning off Bluetooth connections is suggested as it terminates any possible cause of silence from your mobile due to a Bluetooth connection to a connected stereo, headset, home theater, etc. If an active Bluetooth connection existed, it is crucial to verify the audio and volume status of your iPhone after disconnection.
Tip 6. Clean the Headphone Jack and Speaker
Grubby headphones can be one of the reasons why you hear no sound on the iPhone because the headphone jack may be full of dirt and dust. To abolish the problem, you need to clean the headphone jack. You can even use a dust blower. While many recommend a hairdryer as the cleaning tool, don’t use it because it may damage the iPhone sensitive parts. Moreover, you can also use a toothpick or cotton bud to clean the hole. Clean it carefully and prevent from using any liquid because the Liquid Contact Indicator of iPhone’s lies near the headphone jack. If dust or dirt wrap the speaker holes, it will cause no sound on the iPhone.

Tip 8. Reset All Settings
Reset all settings is one of the sound methods that is chosen when no other method works. This method wipes all the settings of your iPhone. You can adjust the settings according to your desires again once the issue is fixed. You can do it by going to the Settings, hit the General button, and then click Reset. On the iPhone Reset screen, choose Reset All Settings. Here passcode will be required, enter the passcode to further move. The last step, confirm your choice by tapping Reset All Settings on a popup screen.
If the problem still remains, you can have a try to Erase All Content and Settings. Please notice that Reset All Settings won’t wipe your data, while Erase All Content and Settings will remove your media, music, apps and more data from your iPhone. So, before you do this, it’s better to backup your iPhone to the iCloud / iTunes in advance.
Hope so if you had a software-based problem then it has been solved but if you have tried all of the methods above, and still cannot fix iPhone sound not working problem, then it is recommended that make an appointment with Apple Support for help.
